Senior Design Expo takes Learn by Doing to the next level

Innovation, collaboration, and teamwork will be on display Thursday, June 2 at the Senior Design Expo, where students from the Mechanical Engineering Department and other engineering majors will display their senior projects. Multidisciplinary student teams will also participate. The projects are sponsored by companies or organizations and can range from autonomous vehicles to prostheses to  a human powered helicopter.

Cal Poly Engineering Announces 2011 Outstanding Graduates

Cal Poly Engineering recently announced its 2011 Outstanding Graduates, including the top graduate students, the top departmental graduating seniors for academic excellence, and graduating seniors recognized for service to the College, service to the University, and service to the community. The winners in each category received $500 bonds from Lockheed Martin.

First PolyHouse to go Solar

Cal Poly Mentors Guide High School Robotics Team to World Championship

A robot named Titan showed all the right stuff at the 2011 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics Championship in St. Louis the last week of April. For the Atascadero High School students who designed and built it, it meant their team - the Greybots - is now ranked among the best in the world. Mentored by Cal Poly students, the Greybots were part of a winning alliance that included teams from San Jose and Cook County, Ill.

Cal Poly Formula Hybrid™ Team Makes a Strong Showing at the International Competition

A four-day engineering competition put Cal Poly's Formula HybridTM team to the test in Loudon, New Hampshire, on May 1-4. Despite a budget challenge and a relatively young team, the group placed 5th in the Autocross event and 7th overall at the international, inter-collegiate competition sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the IEEE.
