Cal Poly Engineering Alumna Wins Medal for Creativity

Civil and environmental engineering alumna Tricia Compas of San Francisco has been honored with the Creativity Foundation's 2011 Legacy Medal. She and five other recipients were presented the awards at a ceremony on April 9 at the Cosmos Club in Washington DC by anthropologist and educator Johnnetta Cole.
San Jose Company establishes a scholarship in remembrance of a Cal Poly alumnus

Mark Thomas & Company, an employee-owned surveying and engineering corporation headquartered in San Jose, has established a student scholarship endowment in Cal Poly's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department with a gift of $50,000. The endowment honors Chris Rockway, a 1979 graduate, who passed away in October 2010.
Society of Civil Engineers Wins National Award for Third Consecutive Year

For the third year in a row, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) honored Cal Poly with the prestigious Robert Ridgway Award given to the single most outstanding chapter out of the 280 student groups across the country. This is the fifth time that ASCE has recognized Cal Poly with this award.
