As its sleek new car takes shape up in the Hangar, the Cal Poly Supermileage Team has been busy on the road, testing new “subsystems” on the 2015 chassis at Allan Hancock College’s Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc in early January.
“Specifically, we were testing the reliability and efficiency of a new drivetrain that we recently finished manufacturing, as well as some new electronic data acquisition systems,” said Cal Poly Supermileage Team President Dorian Capps. “Hancock College was kind enough to let us use their beautiful track free of charge, and we were really pleased with the results of the tests.”
The team is preparing for the Shell Eco-marathon on April 22-24 in Detroit, Michigan. To see a video of the testing, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs_-OS3-1Bs.
